They had the plant, but we had the power ...
One of the hazards of moving to a country where unions have more power:
A one-day strike, on our garbage day, after I've been unpacking boxes and tossing loads of belongings we can't use.
Just my luck.

Do you have scavengers in London? Around here, if we put out good stuff the day before trash day, it's generally gone by morning. I put out five windows that don't fit the storm windows we have now, and they're gone. I thought for a couple days that someone took the tumbleweed I'd put out after cleaning out the garage, but it just blew behind our RV in the driveway. People will take nearly anything, but I guess not a tumbleweed.
Tumbleweed? Just wait for the Christmas decorations preparation season!

Alas, the tumbleweed is in a landfill somewhere outside Lawrence, Kansas, by now. I'd kept it through three Christmas seasons, thinking I'd do something cool with it, but I never did.
