That Speech Went Well, Didn't It

Mrs. Werbenmanjensen adds the following quote from the Financial Times:

"New Labour without Tony Blair is like Genesis without Peter Gabriel."

(Has little to do with a certain speech last night, I know.)

Well, I'm "just" a housewife taking care of 3 kids, but if I were the ruler of the free world, I think I might try to actually calm everyone's fear about a global market crash. I mean, do you tell kids when they go to the doctor that they're going to get a shot, or do you tell them they're going to get a lollipop? Both are true, but one calms them down.

Do you want him to lie to us, or at least not tell us the whole truth, again?

He is lying to us. It's all about his ego and which party is going to win this one and which party is going to lose. He could also calm the market down with some reassuring words about everyone compromising for what's best for the country. The market's all about emotions, you know. We've seen that time and time again.

But what does he care about the regular Joe on the street. Absolutely nothing.
