Things That Are Better Back Home
Inspired by the discussion prompted at this post downstairs, I think it's time to kick off a new feature called "things that are better back home" (or, conversely, "things that s@*! about Britain").
OK, I'll start. Banks.

Hmm, now I can't think of anything that's better in the US. I keep thinking about the delicious Jaffa cakes I had in London! And there was that great yogurt that came in a little glass container!
You didn't even get to have some of the McVitie's digestive biscuits. Oh my goodness but they're good.
The big news this morning is that Britain's fifth-biggest mortgage lender had to get a bailout loans at the Bank of England. The announcers keep saying it's related to "America's bad lending crisis." Heh.
All of those banks are more than happy to make hay while the sun shines.
All of the sudden whent hey start losing money, it's America's fault.
Hmmm...
Don't forget Chipotle!! I haven't been to England in 17 years, so that's all I've got.
I'll second the banks.
And add socks.
Also, my pet peeve, vegan food and health food stores.
Prices.
Spicy food.
And I would gladly start an exchange program, Jaffa cakes for chipotle.
Hmm, yes, socks. And of course the prices go without saying (as we had dinner at a fancy kebab place last night Mrs. W told me that London is now the most expensive city in the world to eat out in). And I like the way you're going with the Jaffa-Cakes-For-Chipotle program. It's a Lend-Lease for our era.
What's wrong with English socks? Sadly, I think it would be hard to send a chipotle burrito through the mail. I could possibly send over some bottled chipotle sauce...
It's impossible to find thick warm socks here (for women, anyway).
I'll take chipotles any way I can get 'em. Canned in adobo sauce is nice. I didn't know about bottled chipotle sauce.
